Natural looking wrinkle injections treatments
At Medicetics we pride ourselves in creating a natural wrinkle injections effect for our patients. Our aim is to reduce lines and wrinkles as much as possible whilst maintaining movement in the region so the wrinkle injections treatment does not appear obvious. The optimal amount varies between patients and why it is essential to be seen two weeks after initial treatment. We believe that if you are not reviewed after treatment there is a chance of getting a sub-optimal result.
At Medicetics we believe that with special consideration to each individuals anatomy we can give excellent results whilst still maintaining a natural appearance.>
Wrinkle injections are unparalleled for the treatment of forehead lines. In fact they can have the same effect as a surgical brow lift. They're also great for eliminating lines around the eyes, and the under-eye bulge, to open the eyes up.
Wrinkle injections is an extremely safe procedure. In our London clinics we use injections with great success to treat dynamic wrinkles (those lines that form in skin where the underlying muscles are used frequently e.g. around the eyes, on the forehead and the area between the eyes. Wrinkle injections can also be used for treating the corners of the mouth, the neck, the masseter muscles (on the side of the jaw) as well as for excess sweating.

1. About wrinkle injections
Botulin is a purified protein which when injected into a muscle leads to a temporary muscular relaxation. Frown lines, worry lines and laughter lines are all caused by the repeated contractions of facial muscles: relaxing these muscles with wrinkle injections is a quick, safe and effective way to smooth and soften wrinkles.
2. What will happen during the treatment?
We will undertake a thorough facial analysis and detailed discussion before proposing an appropriate treatment plan. The actual procedure takes just 5-10mins and involves a small number of injections of botulin solution directly into the muscle groups causing wrinkling.
3. How quickly will I notice an effect?
You will be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately following treatment: there will be no visible changes. The full effect of the treatment will develop over the following 2-14 days.
4. How long will the treatment last?
This varies from individual to individual, but most people tend to have 3-4 treatments over the course of the first year. The duration of effect often increases with each repeat treatment: eventually you may only require one maintenance treatment per year.
5. How safe is it?
Wrinkle injection is considered a very safe treatment. It is now approved by medical authorities in over 70 countries worldwide. It has been used widely in UK hospitals since 1977 (with several indications in children) and in the cosmetic industry over the last 15 years.
6. What are the side effects?
There may be slight discomfort as the needle enters the skin, and there is the possibility of a small bruise at the site of the injection. Other side effects are rare but include slight drooping of the eyelid, which usually resolves in a week or so, and headaches. There are many myths and horror stories circulating in the media: any concerns you may have will be addressed thoroughly prior to treatment. No long term side-effects have been reported.
7. Will wrinkle injections 'freeze' my face and make me expressionless?
No, definitely not. We will only treat the specific muscles that are responsible for your wrinkles, minimizing any possible loss of facial expression.
8. Will my face 'droop' if I do not have repeat treatments?
Absolutely not. The treatment is completely reversible there are no permanent effects. In fact, your skin is likely to have benefited from the period of reduced muscle contraction, as wrinkle formation is slower during this time.
9. Post-treatment care
You are advised to stay upright and to try to exercise the areas treated for 2-4 hours following the injections. It is important to avoid massaging these areas though: this is to prevent the diffusion of solution to adjacent muscles.

Before and after treatment of the glabellar region with wrinkle injections . Note that there is a degree of brow lift and the eyebrows sit slightly higher, the left brow is now more even in the post treatment photo
Wrinkle injections before and after treatment of the forehead region. If wrinkle injections are performed correctly there should still be movement in the forehead with any lines reduced significantly if not completely removed when treated. The eyebrow level in both pre and post photos are similar (ie patient can still move them) however there are minimal lines in the post treatment.

Wrinkle injections before and after treatment of the forehead region lateral view. By lifting the inner part of the eyebrow with wrinkle injections and relaxing the lines in the forehead, it is possible to give a natural botox effect whilst avoiding the "spock" eyebrows a sign the outer eyebrow area has been treated incorrectly.

Wrinkle injections before and after treatment at rest. A reduction in lines and wrinkles with injections is possible without changing how a person looks when performed correctly.

Wrinkle injections before and after treatment of the glabellar region. Removing some of the movement with wrinkle injections in the glabellar region helps to freshen the face. By softening this movement it reduces the stress or worried look or the so called "Blackberry frown".

Wrinkle injections before and after treatment of the forehead region. If lines have become very deep (dermal scarring) it may not be possible to remove them fully with a wrinkle injections treatment. However it is essential to maintain some movement to give a natural looking brow.

Wrinkle injections before and after photos lateral view of the forehead and crows feet. In this lateral view of a wrinkle injections treatment it is possible to see the lifting of the outer eyebrow which in turn helps to open the eye. This lady has also had a juvederm voluma treatment to volumise her mid face area, as well as a juvederm filler treatment to replace the age related volume loss in her lips whilst maintaining a natural look.
