Medicetics we offer both surgical and non surgical options for fat removal. Laser liposuction is the gold standard treatment for surgical removal of fat and cryolipolysis, the process of freezing fat, is the gold standard treatment for non surgical removal of fat.

Surgical- Advanced Laser liposuction

Advanced Laser Liposuction is a combination of traditional liposuction combined with laser technology. A laser is used to break fat down in small smoothe areas and then gentle suction removes the fat from the treated area. This advanced liposuction technique gives very smooth results, does not require general anaesthetic, tightens the skin and has a much faster recovery time.

Why advanced laser liposuction?

Less recovery time due to reduced swelling and bruising.

No general anaesthetic as the procedure is much more gentle than conventional liposuction.

Excellent results we combine the best attributes of both laser lipolysis and liposuction removing large volumes whilst producing an even result.

Skin tightening occurs with laser liposuction as well as getting a reduction in fat. This skin tightening is between 25-40%. Normal liposuction causes no skin tightening

Second generation advanced laser lipolysis

The second generation laser lipolysis/ smartlipo/ laser assisted liposuction is a perfection and amalgamation of two fat removal techniques. It uses a laser to gently break down the fat cells into a semi-liquid state and then low pressure liposuction to remove the fat.

Smartlipo first generation

This involved a low power laser to break down fat. However, the fat was not removed from the body by suction, but left for the body's own mechanisms to remove. This sometimes resulted in sub-optimal results.

Improved results

Second generation laser liposuction are significantly improved. The laser used is more powerful. Clinical trials have discovered that after breaking down the fat with laser, it is very easy to gently suck out the broken down fat cells. The results are more immediate (two weeks), larger areas can be treated whilst only adding a short time to the length of the procedure, that is still performed as a day case under local anaesthetic.

Both fat removal techniques have their pros and cons, however by combining the approach we get the best of both worlds.

General

Body contouring techniques, liposculpture and Laser Lipolysis techniques have seen a rapid rise in popularity due to the rapid advance in technology and the drive to do things in a better more patient acceptable way and to get better results.

Recent advances in laser fat busting technology allows us to target fat more specifically. Experience and further understanding also allows us to improve the results that our patients can achieve.

If you’re seeking the very latest cutting-edge, highly effective technology to significantly improve the safety and efficiency of many surgical techniques, then laser technology is definitely the technique you’ll want to consider. Lasers have been routinely used in the NHS is Urology, Gynaecology, Plastics and ENT procedures for over 10 years.

LASER

The word “laser” is an acronym for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Precise and safe, today’s medical-grade lasers work by creating a powerful light beam that is adjusted to a specific frequency range.

Laser lipolysis

Advanced Laser Lipo is different in that it uses a carefully calibrated laser to liquefy fat deposits through the top layers of the patient's skin.

The laser actually ruptures fat cells, and the resulting oily, liquid substance is then removed through a tiny incision in the skin by the surgeon.

The small laser can also seal blood vessels as it emulsifies fat, so there is less swelling, bleeding and bruising than with traditional liposuction. Research has shown that little, if any, fat is reabsorbed back into the body.

Minimally invasive

The minimal invasiveness of the procedure allows patients to see faster results and to experience fewer complications. In addition, Advanced Laser Lipo patients need only a local anesthetic for this procedure, whereas liposuction requires general anesthesia. Because the patient is not completely unconscious, Advanced Laser Lipo carries much fewer risks than traditional liposuction, and the recovery time is much shorter.

Osyris

Advanced Laser Lipo by Osyris utilises a 980 Diode Laser which is tolerated better by the body, the energy is better targeted to the fat cells whilst not heating surrounding tissues. This technology allows us to use up to 25w of continous wave energy rather than 10w or less, therefore resulting in greater energy to targeted fat cells. This greater targeted energy allows the surgeon to gently navigate through the tissues rather than tear which generally results in significantly less bruising, bleeding and discomfort compared to any other procedure for Laser Lipolysis.

Advanced Laser Lipo has been designed to work on those difficult to treat or exercise away areas of fat. Advanced Laser Lipo can then very quickly emulsify the fat cells and easily remove the troublesome fat for body contouring results for those areas you have always hated!

Safety

Advanced Laser Lipo is an extremely safe procedure. The original Laser Lipolysis procedure was approved by the FDA in November of 2006 and Advanced Laser Lipo was approved in April 2008 and a serious life-threatening complication has never resulted from Laser Lipolysis or Advanced Laser Lipo.

Local versus general anaesthetic

Advanced Laser Lipo is performed under local anesthetic— avoiding any of the complications of general anesthesia. Advanced Laser Lipo has been performed thousands of times since being launched in Europe in 2007 and has shown itself to be one of the safest cosmetic surgeries available.

Minimal bleeding

The Advanced Laser Lipo procedure is safer than traditional liposuction because there is minimal bleeding and minimal invasion.

Minimally invasive

There are no extensive stitches or incisions to possibly get infected, and no lengthy hospital stays are required. Advanced Laser Lipo is an outpatient procedure that is one of the safest and fastest-growing cosmetic surgery options available today and is only performed by GMC registered and qualified Physicians in Health Care Commission regulated Advanced Laser Lipo facilities. This technology is not available in any other environment.

Recovery

Recovery from laserlipo is much quicker than conventional liposuction

Post-Operative Care

Immediately post procedure

With Advanced Laser Lipo, you will begin to recover as soon as the procedure is finished. You will first be escorted to a recovery room, where we will review the procedure and give you instructions on how to take care of your wounds. You will generally be able to return home within two hours after the procedure. We give all our patients antibiotics to take for 5 days and some painkillers to take if they are needed.

Compression garments

You will also receive a compression garment or compression bandages that are key to the recovery process. They encourage healing by preventing the affected tissues from shifting after the Advanced Laser Lipo procedure. They can also help prevent your blood from clotting. These are worn for 7-14 days again depending on what area you have just had treated.

Recovery time

Following the procedure we suggest that you may feel like taking it easy for 24-24 hours however a bit of movement in the following days is essential promote circulation but limited to only minor activity. In the days after, remember to not take any anti-inflammatory medicines or blood thinners like Aspirin as this can make the bruising much worse. In addition, it is recommended that you do not smoke for a few days after the procedure as this may affect circulation and your healing time.

Healing stages

You will heal from Advanced Laser Lipo in several stages. First, minor bruising and numbness may occur right after the procedure. These side effects should disappear within days, if not hours, of leaving the treatment room.

The swelling will go down within a week. At this time you will be able to resume normal activities. However, once the swelling is gone, your recovery is finished and you will be able view the surgery’s final results.

Follow up appointments

After your Advanced Laser Lipo procedure, regular follow up appointments are at one week, 2 weeks and 3 months.

During these follow-up visits, we will examine you to make sure everything is fine well. It is critical that you keep your appointments as you recover. Doing so will ensure that you heal without scarring and/or infection. Most patients’ skin is completely back to normal within a few months of the Advanced Laser Lipo procedure.

FAQ's

What is Advanced Laser Lipo?

Advanced Laser Lipo from Osyris, is the second generation of Laser aimed at treating patients who want to reduce stubborn fat areas which have not responded to exercise or previous old generation Laser Lipo

Is it different from Smartlipo?

Yes, Advanced Laser Lipo utilizes a laser ( Osyris ) designed with a different wavelength. This wavelength allows the Physician to apply more power and energy to really target and melt fat membranes with outstanding results and less downtime.

Who is a suitable candidate for laser lipolysis (Advanced Laser Lipo)?

Advanced Laser Lipo is ideal for anyone of a medium to a slightly large size who wants to contour his or her body. It can treat areas such as the face, chin, arms, waist, thighs and hips, too.

How long does the procedure take?

On average, the procedure takes 2-3 hours per session.

What is the long-term outcome like for most people?

Like traditional liposuction, you will need patience to see the final results. The full effects may not be evident for up to six months to a year. The more fat that you had removed, the longer it will take to achieve optimal results, because the skin has to adapt to a more radical change in shape.

Do I have to stay in the hospital?

Advanced Laser Lipo is performed as an in-clinic procedure under local anaesthesia. You will not be required to stay in the hospital, recuperation is best done in the comforts of your home.

What if I've already had regular liposuction?

Advanced Laser Lipo may be extremely handy for revisiting areas of the body previously treated with traditional liposuction. With previously treated areas, if you wanted to further sculpt or contour without going in again with liposuction, then the Advanced Laser Lipo is a good idea. It’s also for areas anywhere on the body that have overlying skin laxity, especially if you’re a relatively thin, fit, and healthy person looking for additional toning and tightening.

What is the main advantage of Advanced Laser Lipo by Osyris?

The main advantage of Advanced Laser Lipo, will be its two pronged attack. It tightens the skin as it removes the fat, which typical liposuction doesn’t do. Initial results have seen skin tightening (shrinkage) of about 40% but individual results may vary, consult your Physician for a full consultation.

I've had a previous Smartlipo treatment, can I have an Advanced Laser Lipo treatment?

Yes, many patients who have had the old generation Laser treatment with Smartlipo have had very successful secondary treatments with Advanced Laser LipoConsult your Advanced Laser Lipo Physician for a full consultation.

Can Advanced Laser Lipo work on areas that regular Liposuction can't?

Yes, because the aiming beam at the tip of the fiber (laser) lets you know exactly where you are at all times, which allows the user to be very precise. As a result, Advanced Laser Lipo is very useful in areas not suitable for standard techniques ,such as the face, neck, back and knees.

Is Advanced Laser Lipo safe?

Yes. Advanced Laser Lipo is fully approved with the FDA ( USA ) and CE registration ( Europe ). Advanced Laser Lipo is only performed by trained GMC registered Physicians in appropriate facilities. Thousands of procedures have been performed worldwide to date.
