Acne and Acne Scarring

Acne is the most common dermatological condition in Europe. It will affect different individuals at different times and can be difficult to control. There often is a rush to treat people in the UK with antibiotics at a very early stage without trying the large range of topical prescription treatments and new technological advances that are available. We nearly always find that an in-depth consultation and review of current skincare regime and introduction to new medical quality products can be enough to subdue problem areas.

For more resistant problems for our London and UK residents Medicetics have a large range of treatments that rarely require any of our patients to go back on to oral treatments such as Roaccutane.

These are some, but not all of the treatments our doctors use.

Medical topical skin preparations:

There are a number of different treatments that can be used in combination to treat acne. From Retin A to cetaphil, benzyl peroxide to glycolic washes. We find that most patients are well educated on these treatments but often don't quite understand their own triggers. Call us to book a consultation for skin analysis and current regime review

Skin peels

Using chemical exfoliants such as glycolic, salicylic and trichloroacetic acid, we are able to remove sun-damaged skin and stimulate its healthy re-growth in a controlled fashion. The resulting exfoliation removes dead cell layers and promotes underlying collagen regeneration to reduce fine lines, refines pores, correct uneven skin texture and improve acne, acne scarring, facial blemishes and pigmentation.

Silicone Micro droplet injections

Although fillers such as Restylane and Hydrafill give excellent results in most areas of the face, there are a number of areas, such as smoker's lines around the mouth, which can be more difficult to treat. Silicone is a very good treatment for this area and also for softening resistant acne scarring.

Silicone works in a different way to fillers such as Restylane. Micro-injections of medical grade Silicone are injected into the wrinkle area. This causes small amounts of collagen to form around the droplet and cosmetically a filling result. Hence it can be an excellent treatment for acne scars as after the first treatment course re-treatments are not usually necessary.
