Lip enhancement

Lip enhancement is one of the trickiest areas to treat in aesthtetic medicine. In our London clinics we make sure that all our Doctors have had plenty of experience in using fillers and have watched a number of treatments before they are allowed to perform lip augmentation. A critical review of the lips including ratios, shape, volume and profile are essential before deciding on what is needed. Never is the adage "a few millimetres" so apt in terms of health and beauty. During augmentation we nearly always treat both upper and lower lips-this gives a natural yet full balance and allows us to maintain the proper ratio.

Fillers such as Restylane, Hydrafill and Juvéderm are modern medical implants designed to fill out and smooth away deep lines from the mouth to the nose area. This is also an excellent treatment for lip lines, enhancing thin lips, creating a more defined lip border, and rejuvenating your hands and décolletage.

Newer products such as restylane lipp and teosyal kiss are increasingly used in our clinic. This is due to the dynamic nautre of the lips breaking down fillers quicker. These newer products tend to last for a longer length of time.

TIPS FOR THE PERFECT LIPS...

Cupid's Bow: This area in the middle of the upper lip straightens with age as well. Carefully placed filler can restore the youthful look of the cupid's bow.

Smooth textures: Soft, line-free lips telegraph youth.

Balanced lip size: The ratio of the height of the upper lip to that of the lower one is ideally 1.4- 1.6 and should be maintained.

A dumbbell-like lower lip contour: An attractive bottom lip has a subtle symmetric fullness on both sides. This balance can be lost if care is not taken when lips are plumped

Vermilion border: This is the lip border that defines the shape of your lips. The vermilion border flattens with age. Filler can be injected to re-create this roll.
