Voluma (juvederm voluma)

What is it

Voluma is a hyaluronic acid based injectable that is used to restore facial volume. Voluma is not a dermal filler but is injected into the deeper subcutis layers and fat pads of the skin to restore volume or to enhance. Voluma is part of the "juvederm family" and is the next generation equivalent of sub-q from restylane.

Voluma is a very specialised treatment ocurrently only performed by a limited number of Doctors in the UK at the current time. As it is injected deeper in the face a good knowledge of anatomy is required to ensure safety and a good result.

Mid face

Cheek enhancement- Voluma is an excellent product for cheek enhancement. Although it is structurally strong it is soft and does not form lumps like some of the other cheek volumisers. It also has a strong humectant effect in that it attracts water leaving a softer, plumping effect not seen with other products. Its smooth viscosity allows it to be injected with a relatively small needle that therefore minimises bruising to give an immediate effect.

This patient has voluma in her cheeks which as well as improving the mid face area has also significantly improved the contours in the lower face. Botox has improved lines in the forehead and juvederm has also been used.
