Medicetics On Allergan’s Recent Campaign – “Can A Feminist Love Fillers?”

Women’s right to express beauty

Women face so many pressures in today’s modern society, especially in regards to how they are expected to look and present themselves. We shouldn’t have to face this judgment on a daily basis, and here at Medicetics, we believe women should be able to express beauty in their own way – and however they choose to do so!

The advances in cosmetic treatments over recent years offer an opportunity to age on your own terms, practicing “positive ageing” in every way. More and more men and women are seeking treatments to soften the ’emotional’ signs of ageing, to look less tired, angry or sad, subtle tweaks using injectable fillers, wrinkle relaxing injections and chemical skin peels – and we’re not afraid to let on that we are doing so.

Allergan’s New Campaign – “Can a feminist love fillers?”fillers

Recently, Allergan held an interesting PR event in partnership with the Cosmetic Executive Women where the above question was discussed by a panel of high-profile media figures. These included Sarah Vine and Claire Coleman of the Daily Mail, Polly Vernon of The Times and Grazia, Bryony Gordon of The Telegraph and LCA Alison Telfer. The discussion involved the challenges of ageing and judgment by society to try and answer whether you can really be a feminist and love fillers, with the results of consumer research in mind. The answer was, of course, a resounding “yes”!

Dermal Fillers at Medicetics

At Medicetics, our Juvederm ULTRA dermal fillers are just one of the types of hyaluronic acid fillers that we offer, and are manufactured by Allergan.

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan (a very large sugar molecule) naturally occurring in connective tissue throughout our bodies, with 50% of it found in skin. It is an essential component of our skin’s extracellular matrix; it’s framework. It also has an important role in retaining moisture – one molecule can hold up to 1000 times its own weight in water! As we age, natural production of hyaluronic acid slows down.

Hyaluronic acid can be applied topically to the skin, injected as a skinbooster in a mesotherapy vitamin-facial or as the recently launched ‘Volite’ procedure. If injected deeper, into the dermis, fillers such as Juvederm Ultra can plump and lift, softening lines as well as negative ’emotional attributes’.  Heralded as a “liquid facelift” when combining a number of injections into strategically chosen specific points of the face, (the ‘8-point lift’ or ‘MD-Codes technique’), dermal fillers can even be an ideal alternative for patients wishing to replicate the results of a facelift without the permanence, risks and downtime of surgery.

Dr Vicky Dondos, our co-founder at Medicetics, is known for her very natural approach to injectable treatments using dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxing injections, and she consistently achieves subtle, yet fantastic results.Take a look at our testimonials here.
