Minimal recovery time

There is practically no recovery time involved. Most patients will look a little red and skin will feel hot post treatment for 20 minutes. Other than the skin tightening and a feeling of firmness in the skin, there are no outwardly obvious signs that a treatment has been performed.

1. What is Pelleve?

Pelleve is a non invasive treatment for tightening the skin on the face. It is the ultimate non-surgical facelift. Each treatment takes less than one hour is painless and requires no recovery time.

2. How does it work?

Non-surgical skin tightening works by heating the lower layers of the dermis causing two stages of contraction: a. An immediate contraction of the tough fibrosis layers causing a lifting effect in response to the heat treatment. b. A secondary remodelling of the collagen layers in the dermis that takes 2-3 weeks in response to the heating of the lower skin layer.

3. What will happen during the treatment?

The skin is covered in a thin layer of gel. The pelleve radiofrequency device is massaged over the skin heating it to a safe optimal temperature (measured by an infrared temperature device) on the skin surface. As the superficial layer temperature rises, the lower layers are heated up significantly more. Pelleve heats up the lower layers of the skin to 65 degrees C whilst the upper layers do not reach 40 degrees C. Therefore the "heat" that ultimately aids skin tightening does not cause any discomfort. Each area is treated 3-6 times depending on the area of the face. The eye area is treated 3 times as the skin in this region is very thin whereas the jawline may be treated 5-6 times to get a tightening in the jowls region. The skin temperature is constantly being measured by a laser skin temperature gauge.

4. How long will the treatment take?

The actual Pelleve treatment takes about 30 minutes for an area of the face to 45-60 minutes for the full face to be treated. After about ten to fifteen minutes after the treatment any redness will have fully settle down and you can easily go back to work or play.

5. What are the side effects?

As with all the treatments at Medicetics we have concentrated on choosing safe treatments. Your safety is of the utmost importance to us. Possible side effects include mild redness and swelling within the area that was treated. Redness usually disappears within 1 hour, very rarely up to 48 hours. Very mild swelling that may not be noticeable to others rarely lasts 2 to 24 hours.

6. How quick are the results?

Results occur in two stages: 1. An immediate tightening and firming of the skin can be seen immediately after a Pelleve treatment. When half of the face is treated there is a significant difference between sides. 2. A secondary tightening continues to work as the collagen remodels and tightens in response to the radiofrequency treatment over the next 3 weeks. 3. Finally at 3 weeks a second treatment will increase this tightening further.

7. How long do results last?

Pelleve tightens skin however it can not stop the progression of skin laxity. Therefore it depends on genetics and lifestyle. However we expect the result to last at least 18 months when a top up treatment may be recommended. Younger patients results often last much longer.

8. How safe is it?

Pelleve is safe. It has FDA approval from the tightest regulators in the industry (the USA) and proven to be effective for skin tightening and wrinkles. Unlike laser treatments there are no sun exposure restrictions as it does not focus on pigmentation.

9. Post-treatment care

Mild swelling and redness can occur however patients do not need to do anything special unless specifically requested by the practitioner.
