Microsclerotherapy (leg vein injections) eliminates the appearance of spider veins, broken veins, and other vascular conditions that appear on the surface of the skin. Treatments take only 30 minutes to perform, and there's no need for surgery or anesthesia – just a simple injection can start eliminating the appearance of broken veins.
Most clients need about 3-4 leg vein injection sessions before seeing noticeable results. These results last for a long time; it's recommended that clients undergo single session injections every 1-2 years for maintenance.
To determine if Microsclerotherapy is right for you, book your consultation with a Medicetics doctor today.
1. Thread veins are genetic.
Sometimes broken veins appear simply due to your genetic makeup – meaning you’re more prone to getting spider veins. Other contributing factors include hormonal changes, prolonged sun/cold exposure, and standing for long periods of time.
2. Microsclerotherapy shouldn’t be used on the face.
If you have broken blood vessels on your face, Excel V laser treatment, IPL (intense pulsed light) therapy and radiosurgery are better options for this cosmetic issue. All 3 of these treatments are currently available at Medicetics.
3. A surprising number of women have thread veins.
Think you’re alone with your thread veins? It’s estimated that about half of women in their 20s suffer from spider veins, with that number rising to a whopping 70 per cent once women reach their 50s.
4. Microsclerotherapy doesn’t treat varicose veins.
If your veins are larger and bumpier, you may suffer from varicose veins. These veins need to be treated using a different method by a vascular surgeon.
5. The procedure is relatively painless.
Most clients only report feeling a slight stinging, itching sensation when the solution is injected into the veins. This sensation typically subsides within a couple of hours.
You may be a good candidate for Microsclerotherapy if:
- You have broken, visible veins that appear smooth to the touch
- These veins appear on your arms and legs, not your face
- You’re committed to maintaining your results on a yearly basis
The microsclerotherapy procedure takes about thirty minutes to perform; during this time, a special solution is injected into the broken veins. Over time, this solution causes the veins to close up. The body then absorbs these destroyed veins, resulting in clearer skin.
Common side effects can include slight bruising, which can take up to a week to settle. Clients will need to wear compression stockings (provided by Medicetics) 24/7 for three days after the treatment to reduce bruising. After this three-day period, stockings should be worn during the day only for the next two weeks
