Profhilo

Profhilo is an award-winning treatment and innovative approach to anti-aging. Comprised of 100% HA (Hyaluronic Acid), it restores firmness of the skin whilst nourishing dermal cells; providing hydration from the inside out to address 'crepey' skin. Once administered, it spreads freely in the dermis, interacting with the tissue and causing it to regenerate, by stimulating your own production of collagen and elastin. The result of this is a tighter and more youthful appearance. A visible, and sometimes dramatic, improvement in skin condition can be seen after just 2 sessions, a month apart, and only 5 injection points on each side of the face.  The downtime is minimal, and the results are natural.  Even though Profhilo is made of Hyaluronic Acid, it is not for adding volume but rather for enhancing skin tone, texture, elasticity and hydration. Any area of the face or body can be treated with Profhilo but generally we treat the face, neck and hands. Profhilo is suitable for both women and men from the age of 30 upwards.

Aftercare & Recovery

Profhilo injections only take a few minutes to administer, via a small needle or cannula. Typical injection sites include those areas difficult to treat with dermal fillers, such as the forehead, around the mouth, neck and backs of the hands. Clients may be treated with a numbing cream to manage any discomfort.

There is minimal downtime associated with this treatment. Generally clients are able to return to work and resume normal activities immediately after treatment. There may be a little redness and/or swelling post-treatment but this should dissipate after 48 hours.

1. A Natural Approach

Profhilo uses a natural approach in dealing with the first signs of ageing due to hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound that contributes to the production of collagen and elastin. When injected into the skin, hyaluronic acid increases the presence of these fundamental building blocks, thus speeding up cellular turnover.

2. Different from Dermal Fillers

Even though Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid injection, it’s consistency and application differs to that of Dermal Fillers, and hence it does not add volume. Dermal Fillers do not hydrate the skin in the same way that Profhilo does; Profhilo is directly treating the tone, texture and overall condition of the skin, super important for an overall more youthful appearance. The two treatments work well together.

3. Minimal discomfort & downtime

A minute needle is used for the treatment which means that the skin is generally free from marks and bruises. Profhilo does not contain lidocaine (anaesthetic), unlike most Dermal Fillers, as it is not required. Topical numbing cream can be used, but often it is not necessary.

4. Collagen, Elastin & Hyaluronic Acid levels drop after the age of 30

We start losing a significant amount of collagen, elastin and Hyaluronic Acid after the age of 30, so it’s good to start having treatments and using a good skincare regime to address this. Profhilo stimulates four different types of elastin and collagen due to the slow release of hyaluronic acid, and is a great complementary treatment for Dermal Fillers or for those not quite ready to have anti-wrinkle injections and/or Dermal Fillers.

5. Award-Winning

Launched in the UK in 2016, Profhilo has already won an Aesthetic Award as the Most Innovative Treatment in 2016, and was Highly Commended in 2017.

1. What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a hyaluronic acid (HA) based product for treating skin laxity. With it’s high concentration of HA, it not only boosts and hydrates skin, but also remodels sagging and ageing skin tissue.

2. How long do results last with Profhilo?

After two treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart, the effects last approximately 6 months.

3. Does it hurt?

Discomfort is minimal, as the treatment is fairly quick. But topical anaesthetic numbing cream is an option.

4. When will I notice the results from Profhilo?

Final results can be seen around 6-8 weeks post treatment. You can expect an improvement in superficial fine lines and wrinkles, with plumper, firmer, hydrated skin.

5. What are the side effects?

The main side-effects with Profhilo treatment are from the injections themselves, which can cause slight bruising and swelling in some cases for a few hours post treatment.

6. Is there any downtime?

Downtime will only occur if your skin bruises very easily. Some bruising is to be expected, but this is usually minor and easily covered with makeup. Some areas, such as the neck or under the eyes, tend to bruise more readily, and thinner skin will tend to bruise more easily.

7. Who is suitable for treatment with Profhilo?

Profhilo is suitable for skin laxity, generally in men and women post 35-40 years old. Profhilo can also help with fine lines such as ‘accordion lines’ and slight sagging skin.

8. Is Profhilo safe?

Treatment with Profhilo is very safe if administered and injected by a qualified and experienced doctor or practitioner, such as a member of our team at Medicetics.
